Digital Music LA August Speed Networking Event Wrap Up

IMG00008-20100805-1905The last meeting of Digital Music Los Angeles was designed to be a speed-networking event.  Since this is the newer of our two meet up groups, and is constantly expanding, we wanted the members to make as many connections as possible.  We're aiming to form a tight-knit community of music industry professionals under the DMLA umbrella, which will provide valuable business leads to all of the members involved.  We're hoping the people who attended made plenty of new connections, which not only makes them want to come back next time, but also bring their friends and colleagues along with them. <!--more-->We would like to thank networking MC Laurel Kaufman ( http://www.ak-cg.com/) as well as Ann Murray ( http://www.zombiegato.com), who has been helping build Digital Music LA since day 1.

Digital Music LA June Wrap Up and Pictures

The second Digital Music LA event took place on Tuesday. It was a pretty lively crowd of 75 including industry professionals from labels, PR/marketing agencies, managers and professional artists.   Announcements included from Bluehaze on creating fan music apps on a revenue sharing basis and a quick talk by the artist MYSELF (who also performed) on how he built a business around, well, himself.

We saw some great feedback on Twitter (follow us at @digitalmusicla and hashtag #DMLA - check out the widge on the right) and even heard about a new music app development company, Sumobox being "spawned," in the words of the founder, as a result of conversations at our May event about.   Needless to say, we'll look forward to seeing their first demos soon.

Digital Music LA June 11 Wrap Up

We had our first Digital Music LA event this past Tuesday and we're off to a great start.   Dozens of music industry

professionals gathered to network, trade business cards and explore business opportunities (we also did our fifth Digital Music NY event that same night and over 200 people attended). As we explained at this event, we'd also like companies to see this as a way to announce news and demo new music related products or services.

We would like to thank the client-sponsors that made this possible.

  • Zimbalam - The largest digital music distribution network at www.zimbalam.com
  • MXP4 - Interactive music technology.  Try out their interactive singles and albums at mxp4.com/applications
  • Waze - Our traffic busting sponsor.  Try their iPhone app to see how others are finding the best routes to the next meetup - www.waze.com
  • Universal - Take a look at their new Universal Six-String music game (built by the people that did the popular iShred guitar simulator).
  • And of course, our own PR and Media firm - www.fortexgroup.com and playthemusic.biz

Sign up here for future event alerts or at our meetup group at www.meetup.com/digitalmusicla.  Follow us on Twitter at @digitalmusicla and Hashtag #DMLA.

Digital Music LA May 11 Networking Event

2010-05-11
America/New York

Digital Music LA is a chance to meet, network and do business with your fellow LA based music industry members. Mingle, eat and drink, just blocks from the beach in beautiful Venice beach.

Our purpose is to bring together people from all parts of the music ecosystem - labels, agencies, artists, technology companies, service providers, promoters and more - and create a networking environment with real business development potential.

Mainly we would like this first meeting to introduce everyone to the group and to focus on what you all want to get out of this meetup group, so please bring your ideas and get ready to chat!

Location

Air Conditioned Supper Club (VENICE)* - (310) 230-5343

http://www.airconditionedbar.com/locations_venice.html

*Please don't mistake this for the one in Santa Monica, or you will end up at the wrong place.

Parking

The venue has made available to us the parking across the street, at Smart & Final. There may also be parking on residential streets surrounding the lounge (sorry, no valet is available that night).

Bands will begin at 8pm, so feel free to stay, watch the bands and mingle with fellow Meetup members after the meeting is done!
